Fortunately, the long term solution to Atlantis’s food crisis turns a problem into a solution. That long term solution is Sustainable Tropical Agriculture. The reason it turns a problem into a solution is that it takes the problem of having to come up with funds every month to feed the children and women of Atlantis into a solution by growing and raising enough nutritious fruits, vegetables, and livestock to not only feed everyone at Atlantis, but also to have surplus organic crops and protein left over to sell.
No longer will HP2HT and others have to provide funds for all of the the food needs of Atlantis. Instead, the Atlantis children, mothers, and staff will be able to grow and raise the crops and livestock they need to feed themselves plus make a profit to purchase other food staples like rice and fish. It is a perfect model for any orphanage and HP2HT plans to export the technology used to accomplish the Sustainable Tropical Agriculture model to anyone who also has an interest in turning the worsening third world food price crisis from a problem into a solution.
Those of you who are interested in the basics of Sustainable Tropical Agriculture may want to view the HP2HT video, Sustainable Tropical Agriculture is Coming to Atlantis, which is located on our website. The word Sustainable is a very important word because it means the children, women, and staff of Atlantis will not only become less dependent on outside help and more self reliant in an ongoing way. They will also be learning a valuable livelihood skill which will be in more and more demand with the passage of time.
Expenses for the LONG TERM SUSTAINABLE TROPICAL AGRICULTURE PROGRAM are best estimated at approximately US$750 per month through December, 2009; US$650 per month through December 2010; US$550 per month through December 2011; US$450 per month through December 2012; and $00 (Zero) from December 2012 forward. Atlantis should be FULLY SUSTAINABLE with its food needs by no later than the beginning of January, 2013
Please give and pledge what you can to help Atlantis through this critical period.
