Scott Holmes, Founder and CEO of Helping People to Help Themselves, Inc. He is currently a passive real estate investor and devotes full time to furthering the charitable works of the organization he began in 2003.
Christian Holmes is HP2HT’s videographer and webmaster. He is currently working as a web developer, travel writer, and Internet consultant. Christian has traveled to the Philippines on three different occasions. On his first trip in 2004, at the age of 13, he filmed and edited 5 fund raising videos for various orphanages and medical outreach and assistance programs. On his second trip in June/July of 2006, at age 15, Christian filmed and edited “The Raising of Atlantis” for HP2HT. On his latest trip in April of this year, now at age 17, he has filmed and edited “Sustainable Tropical Agriculture is Coming to Atlantis” and “The Return to Atlantis.” He is current travelling in California and beginning in August will be backpacking through Europe.
João Troples is HP2HT’S photographer and sustainable agriculture coordinator. She has begun working with the Atlantis staff to integrate healthy nutritional practices into their daily food preparations. João is also exploring alternative cooking and cooling methods for the orphanage such as inexpensive solar ovens and solar cooling devices.
Marilou Navarro is a pastor and president of the Charismatic Full Gospel Ministries. In this capacity, she oversees 100 churches and 200 pastors, evangelists, and missionaries. Marilou started the orphanage in 1986 to provide a home for the homeless children of the Surigao del Norte area. In the 22 years the orphanage has existed, she has helped over 1,000 children. She has one adopted son, David.
Juliet Japor is a government licensed social worker working full time at the Charisma Bethel Children’s Home. She maintains a loving one-on-one relationship with each of the home’s children while also taking care of the administrative needs of the orphanage.
Pastor Allan Japor is the auditor of the Charisma Bethel Children’s Home. In addition he is a tireless and unwavering volunteer who has, for more than a decade, helped the orphanage with many of its physical and logistical needs. Allan and his wife, Juliet, also lovingly provide and care for their own four children whose ages range from 8-14.
Jeff Eichhorn lives in western Colorado where he makes a living in the cattle business as an embryologist. In early 2006, he acted as a field agent for the Charities Support Foundation to oversee and report on how efficiently a donation of US$2,000 to CBCH was used. Through two visits to the orphanage, Jeff became inspired to fundraise for the renovation of Atlantis. He, together with others, has successfully raised over $25,000 for the now completed first phase of the renovation of Atlantis. In May, 2008 he will participate in another major fund raiser for the second phase of renovation. Jeff is assisted by his two wonderful teenage daughters.
Shane Duckworth is a husband and a father of two children. He leads worship for his church and practices geotechnical engineering in western Colorado. Shane also visited the orphanage in early 2006 and became inspired to fundraise for the renovation of Atlantis. He, together with others, has successfully raised over $25,000 for the now completed first phase of the renovation of Atlantis. In May, 2008 Shane will participate in another major fund raiser for the second phase of renovation.
Daniel Niederhauser is an innovative board member of a Christian church located near Bern, Switzerland. Together with his sister, Elisabeth, he met with Scott, Christian, and Joao at Aloha House on Palawan Island, Philippines and also at Atlantis on Mindanao Island, Philippines. He and the other board members of his church are providing an ongoing operating budget for Charisma Bethel Children’s Home as well as setting funds aside for the construction of eight separate “pod” type units at Atlantis. Each “pod” will consist of 8 to 10 orphans ranging in age and gender to approximate a typical Filipino family. At present a house mother and a house father as well as individual kitchens are envisioned for each “pod.”
